Zigs good job herding those wasps and bees. I generally leave the wasps alone . It’s the Yellowjacket's that are aggressive. To eliminate ground bees , I sneak out at night when they are all in the ground nest and pour liquid dish soap and water down the opening. Works great.

One year a honey bee nest was in the house wall entered from the roof. . I called a bee collector and he took the siding off and vacuumed out all the bees . Once the Queen was located all the bees followed her into a box.
Another time an entire bee hive was looking for a new home and clung to the white pine tree next to the front door over night. They hung on looked exactly like a bee hive clinging on to each other over night. Next morning they were gone.

Anniekay good choice of clematis and your planting techniques are right on the mark. I have one similar to your pic, and I let it grows up a variegated small holly tree. Another clematis growing up a climbing rose, and another growing around a camellia then out to the fall on the pond. Another growing up the wisteria both bloom in early spring. I never trim any of my clematis unless I absolutely have to. They are easy care and faithful bloomers for years and years. Where you planted your clematis it can roll up the trellis next to the potting shed and in a couple of years all blooms will be fabulous.

Honeysuckle and me have a contemptuous relationship. They are great for bees and hummers as well as insect resistant. At some point I gave up trying to keep it in check.
This lonicera is gone as it was way too much for me to maintain I struggled with it for years and finally decided to say bye bye. Not all Lonicera’s are invasive.



Here’s a different spin on honeysuckle . A small golden shrub . Tough as nails. I accidentally ran over it with the truck and didn’t phase it one bit.
Gold Box Honeysuckle (Lonicera pileata var. yunnanensis 'Baggesen's Gold') 3’tall easy to maintain and the perfect year round color to brighten up a cold winter season.

 

Sometimes squirrels can be so cute! I was sitting outside debating on checking to see if there were any ripe raspberries.

Not so much what I have DONE but more what I have planned for today after this quick gulp of coffee.

Waiting patiently in line to be planted out..
Ajuga and Heuchera cuttings that are now well rooted and some Wallflowers...the bigger ones can go out now and the 2nd batch ( shorter ones) can wait another month to prolong the display next Spring .



Also this final batch of Lettuce is well and truly overdue being potted up....oops.



I also plan on spraying another lot of Dahlias too but unfortunately the rest of the week looks potential showery....I have read that Bicarbonate Soda with a splash of washing up liquid ( dish soap) works better as it stays on the leaves better during ' iffy' weather. Will give it a go and see ( might add a bit of milk too for good luck )

How much of this will actually get done is another matter...but these are today's plans.
