Luv my battery op pruners too… one of my fav tools besides the chain saw… makes lite of heavy prunning and saves hands, wrists, joints. Well ya all know the drill. :)

A new battery is in the car so back in business. Now I need to take it into the center for smog emissions testing this month to receive the next car license plate renewal sticker and oil change , fluid checks. All this month.

Was out early to check the pastures and gardens for animals issues. Nothing spotted. :fingerscrossed: Just keeping it real . It’s a daily chore to keep my fields and garden free of destructive critters.

    Ahh, so you're a January baby, aren't ya?.:p

I'm so glad we don't have emission inspections in Ga. They had them (don't know if they still do), in Jersey when I lived there. Pain. in. the. neck !!

Well my car is a January baby… for auto registration renewal. And yes I agree it’s a pain every few years.
Ga has auto registration emissions testing only in major metro counties similar to Co.. . When I lived in Colorado emissions testing was not statewide. Some less populated areas contribute less to air pollution and have fewer traffic issues didn’t require emission testing on vehicles.

Ahh, over here in Ga you get your sticker in YOUR birth month but you have a few days past your birthday to get it. It's a flat $20 yearly.

Auto registration is good for 4 years here. The state send the renewal in the mail as a reminder to renew it when it’s due.

It's bright and sunny but 0c so no gardening.
There's frost on the windscreen of my car. I don't intend to go out today.
If I started it, it would "kick off" and tell me that a lot of things won't be working until I've cleaned the windscreen.

Today I cut down the Jonagold apple tree. It's 26 years old, one of my oldest. It's had, maybe, three productive years in that time. Jonagold is triploid, so not a pollinator for other apple varieties. It's one of my favorites, delicious, crisp, sweet, juicy, flavorful apples. But I can't justify the burden of caring for it any more. I have other, better, varieties.

    Some cleanup remains.

I was thinking, boy, this tree has hard wood! It's really difficult to saw through it! Then I installed a new chain on the chain saw and wow! cutting like a hot knife through butter! Bob's yer uncle! It's cut down.

I procrastinate replacing chains because it's awkward and dirty work. But it's not that bad.

Same supervisor as usual. If he gets up and hangs out closer, that means "time to quit" but mostly "meal time!"

I enjoy looking at the trunk of the Liberty apple tree that I pruned yesterday.

It looks very old and gnarled.

Then it started pouring rain, so I stopped.
