The phrase "What's for dinner?" is not used by me, as it could be answered with "Whatever you want to cook!" I just keep quiet and wait until I'm called. This can be at any time depending on whether my wife is actually watching the TV in the evening, or asleep in front of it.
The phrase "What do you want for dinner?" was often used by her when we had three kids at home. In those days we had a big chest freezer in the garage.
When asked that question they would say, "Anything that doesn't need one of to go down to the garage and dive into the freezer to get it out!"

A nice Polish girl always delivers it.
Taking the family out for Japanese hibachi tonight... It's been way too long!
