Sojerd, never argue with a woman holding a sharp object. Cutting peppers is not important enough to lose a discussion with a woman with a knife.

Tonight for something completely different and a little bit to irritate my wife with my meat choices, I made cast iron lamb with farro, roasted sweet potato and onion tossed in olive oil and chili powder, topped with arugula, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, lemon marinated cranberries and shredded parmesan cheese. Sjoerd, your chili sounds delicious! Mouth wateringly so! I had to laugh about your discussion of knife cuts! You know in the cooking shows we watch, it's a real thing. Chefs can get "dinged" for their less than perfect knife cuts. Not that I have an opinion re your discussion!

I listened to your smakelijk eten & could hardly make out the sounds.

Hope your meal was as delicious as it sounds and the movie good.

    Dirt, that looks delicious!

Cuban dinner tonight: pork with onions, black beans & onions, yucca with garlic and lemon, aparagus from the garden, and a salad (some of the lettuce is from the garden). Oh, and white rice to go under the black beans. IMG_20200528_191839.jpg

After spending the day weeding and mulching, then having a sandwich at night, this great looking dinner left my mouth watering. I think I will have two of those "to go", please. :):):)

How do you prepare the yuca? I can find it at Walmart but do not often prepare it because I hear it is fried in recipes. Can you bake it (maybe not as tasty???)

So we have a "Pie Man" in town that comes by the store where my wife works on Main Street peddling a variety of "enhanced" dinner pies. My wife has a few favorites, and brought home the chicken pot pies last night. They look cool with Paprika on the crust and are very tasty. We just have to reheat them at 300 for 15 minutes or so and they are ready to go!

Luis_pr, we usually buy frozen yucca: less work than buying fresh. Then we boil it in salted water for maybe 1/2 hour then add it to a frying pan that has sauteed garlic in it, to crisp it up.

Dirt, I love chicken pot pie.

Tonight is a feast! We are having bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, fresh from the garden green beans and baby red potatoes steamed with a bit of butter and parsley, and a fruit salad of pears, apples, melon, and walnuts in a raspberry/walnut vinagrette. We are discussing the choice of wine--Zinfandel or Merlot?
