Tonight we had japanese-style meatballs, rice and "roasted" broccoli... our roommate (who does all the cooking) still isnt used to roasting vegs, even after he's been here a year. He doesnt bake them nearly long enough.
And tomorrow, as it's my birthday, I requested crispy pork, rice and potstickers. And I'm going to bake a chocolate cake (I prefer making my own cake haha)

Spiral cut ham soup with masa cornbread. The soup recipe uses hominy so the theme was nixtamalized corn. I wonder about 2 things. Since the nixtamalized corn flour is called masa, and nixtamal is a name for hominy, are tamales named after the flour source and could I convince DW to try steamed hominy as tamales are steamed in corn shucks. I have been on a steamer cooked food kick lately.

I am thinking it is Quiz Night over Alabama Way...Soup yes comprendre....cornflour yes farine de maïs....Steamed yes à la vapeur...the rest would be classed as Je n'ai aucune idée de ce qu'est l'autre nourriture ...enjoy... and steam food is very healthy and retains good flavours...google translate is my friend:chuckle:

That is a beautiful way to say I do not know! I will bet even a dish of Opossum has a pleasant description in France!

Shepherds Pie with lashings of naughty cheese, browned nicely on top...In true political correctness.. brought about by an ex-pat know it all type:rolleyes:..It is really Cottage Pie as Shepherds apparently should be made with left over lamb...I use minced beef so therefore not to confuse anybody...:shrug:it is correctly re- named Cottage Pie...smells good from the Kitchen...
