Some roses starting to bloom. Playboy. I grew this one from a cutting, years ago. Red poppies. Red Itoh Peony
Same here , you grow all the semi tropicals , fruits and veggies I cannot and I drool when I see your garden too. You’ve got super skills. @Daniel W peony’s , and roses and poppy’s oh my. Beautiful . So happy to see the roses you started from cuttings. You’re such an amazing talented person with everything you do and I always learn something new from you. In fact I learn so much from everyone who posts in all the gardening forums here. There are so many talented gardeners here. Never a dull moment and so much to learn from all the seasoned gardeners who share pics of their garden veggies, fruits, flowers, shrubs , trees, and vines, oh my. I want to take this time to thank everyone for participating and sharing pic’s, comments and experiences. Every picture tells a story. Always .. Brightens my day.
Pacnorwest, There are so many talented gardeners here. The same can be said of you. Thank you for participating, and for being such a good gardener!
@Pacnorwest , this one looks like yours. Hemstitched? The iris garden. Kind of a mess, but it makes me happy. Important for preventing disease, I mulched with arborist chips. It works for me every time. Some mushrooms in the arborist chips. The first of my David Austin roses to bloom this year. Darcey Bussell. "Welsh" onions, which aren't from Wales. I grew them from seeds from a Japanese supplier. Popular for scallion pancakes, eggs, etc. I can't find my old order for this bearded iris. I think it's one of the newer ones. This one is "Victoria Falls". I remember reading, someone called it "Victoria Falling Over". Mine stays upright but I have others that fall unless supported with a stake. Introduced in 1977, and is fragrant. A Korean Lilac. I think it's "Little Kim". Very fragrant.
@Daniel W love all the Iris. I have a few and they really struggle here in the heat. I think I will move them to part shade this coming fall. I have a surprise feature in the garden. Five Glads have come up that I never planted. These have to have been planted over a decade ago, at least because there were no flowers here, just grass and trees. The old owners kept the yard that way the entire ten years they lived here. One Glad came up outside my fence.
Gorgeous blooms Anniekay and Daniel and nice combo bed plantings. Drooling.. Daniel yes the frilly purple&white iris in your first pic does look a lot like my frilly iris. I don’t know the name it could possibly be the same. My friend gave me that one a few years ago no name was attached. Anniekay beautiful hydrangeas. I won’t see any blooms from mine til June. Those colors are gorgeous.
I looked that Glad up. It's Gladiolus Merianellus a very old variety that grows in South Africa. I feel very lucky to have them.!! They're getting transplanted in fall because they are growing through the hawthorn hedge as well as outside the fence. Thanks @Pacnorwest I have to treat mine with a copper spray to keep spots away from the leaves since the humidity is super high here in summer. It's "Hydrangea Endless Summer".
