Woodland ground cover plant?

Can anyone identify this for one of my friends on a photography forum please?

In case you can't see the shot,it shows a circle of about 12-18" with spear-shaped,variegated leaves which are 3-4" across growing in woodland leaf litter.

Looks like a type of Asian wild ginger.
