What an interesting thread! The mountains near our town are like Swiss cheese because of the bunkers. Some are closed off, others are cleaned and open to the public, and some just sit there and decay. We also have the remains of what was more or less a coastal fortress near by. I'm glad the people didn't raze everything to the ground or fill all the bunkers up with rocks. Remembering history is important.

History was a subject I detested at school, but now I'm at this stage of life, I'm realising just how important it is. The further back we delve, the more we learn. Zigs has encouraged me to look at the existence of the planet in a new light over millions of years.
It has thrown a new light on subjects like the changing weather conditions as we began to discuss in the thread about climate change.
