When your gardening/weeding jeans are so familiar feeling...and smelling...that you forget that you are wearing them all day ( including to the neighbours) until it is gently pointed out to you that "perhaps you should change Love". ( Hubby holding nose)

When I was a child I'd wait with bated breath for the Wards and the Sears Christmas catalogs to arrive. Now that I've discovered gardening, I wait with bated breath for gardening/seed catalogs to arrive in January!

One from this morning, when you use secateurs as a knife for twine and such.

When five gallon pails and wheelbarrows are at the top of the list of items you cannot do without.

When you have collected plant catalogs from around the country and saved them all …and have a small library of books and treasured ribbons from all the plant and floral competitions over the years.

When an old, frayed, and torn tee shirt is not a cleaning rag. It's cut into strips and becomes ties for vines!

When it is cold enough to wear a toque and insulated gloves, but you go out at dawn anyhow to weed.

When your terrace steps are crowded with self sown plants that you don't have the heart to yank out.

It may look like a mess, but there's nary a weed there!

When you have 9 amaryllis plants because a friend gives you one every Christmas & you just can't throw them out.

When you have 15 seedling Clivias.....just because.
When you have 5 Christmas cacti....all gifts that you can't seem to get rid of.

These baby clivias below are all jammed together for ease of watering this summer.

When you need to identify the culled plants surviving in your compost pile. Or give them to neighbors. There has to be 5 bromeliads in there. IMG_20220816_174628.jpg
