Is the appointment for the surgery or for the surgical consult Logan? That seems quick to access - which is good news. I know a few people with hip replacements and their quality of life improved greatly. Sounds like your Hubby is ready for that. Poor guy.

We should do that. :) He could use a pep talk about it for sure.

Angus' aversion to water is such that if he has to step in a puddle or go in the rain, we waits beside the door until I get his towel for him. He is funny when we take the boat out though. He loves the boat but hates to swim. I get lauched with the boat and start it, waiting on the lake for Hubby and Angus to come back to the ramp after parking the truck and trailer. When they show up I bring it in to shore and put out the doggy ramp for them to board. Angus always tries to wade out or swim out to me on the boat before it is brought in and needs to be leashed so he doesn't make a swim for it. ( 110 lbs and heavy Malamute coat...I'd be hard pressed to haul him up. His life jacket has a grab handle on it, but he doesn't put that on until he's in the boat) Once he's on the boat with his Momma in sight - that's it. It can be 30 C and he won't swim.

Thanks Melody,It's to see his Dr for a x-ray, don't know how long he'll have to wait for the x-ray. He's thinking of going private for the op, it all depends on how long he'll have to wait, could be more than 6 months. Have to see what the Dr says.

Melody, shame about Angus doesn't like water, one of our goldies didn't like baths, i had to put his lead on and tie him to the bath handle so that he wouldn't jump out.
One of our others would walk round puddles.

Our electric shower has been playing up.
I installed it about ten years ago, replacing a less powerful one.
(The electrics were OK for the wattage).
So today I toyed with the idea of trawling around suppliers, buying a new one and fitting it.
    But decided not to.
    "I got a man in."
From phone call to completion took about 3 hours, it works fine, similar model and connections and fittings as the old one.
    £200 well spent.

Today is the start of making Raspberry Wine. Red wine gives me a terrible stomach ache - something in the wine, not sure if it is the tannins or the sulphites. So we make Raspberry Wine - primarily for a cooking wine.

There are no fancy ingredients - just berry juice, sugar and wine making yeast - a warm spot by the woodstove and patience. We only make it every few years, but I am on my last of the last so it is time. The berries came out of the freezer to thaw in large bowls, and are now being strained. Yeast will be aded shortly, and the patience part begins.

Melody sounds good, I used to make wine i used to put a Camden tablet in it to stop it fermenting, do you do that?
I made a ginger wine, didn't expect it to be fizzy but i liked it.

Last Friday hubby was starting to get a cold. By the weekend it was as bad as it would get, it always goes on his chest. Yesterday i started to get the symptoms and today it's bad, there was a time that i wouldn't catch them but i think that he gets them off the children in the schools that he does the Invigilation. This time of year they have the mock exams and he helps with putting the papers on the desks, taking their mobile phones and putting them in a box, making sure that they behave themselves and escorting them to the toilets so that they don't cheat. It's not easy because the papers can be for basic, Inbetween or higher at one exam.

Just a small note with my experiences with several joint replacements. The surgeon told me not to wait to long before joint replacement he needs healthy bone and tissue to obtain the best outcome.

@Dirtmechanic that's what happened to me. I had the opportunity to see a consultant about my crumbling right hip, and asked him straight out. ''Could you please give me a new one?'' He agreed there and then, and I was booked in immediately. I could do with a new left one now, but don't think that will happen in the present climate with the NHS.

    That sounds delicious!

I have a final batch of Thai peppers fermenting. It's not doing much so far. Maybe the sauerkraut juice inoculum was inactive this time.

Ginger wine sounds interesting. :) We made a Gooseberry Rhubarb wine many years ago that remained fizzy also and really liked it. I don't use any additives like camden because I have a sulphite sensitivity. It can take a while, but we let it ferment away until it's done. We also don't make huge volumes or expect a long shelf life, so we don't worry about the extra stabilizing that sulphites would offer. Hubby enjoys wine and will have some from the store with dinner. I'm more about having a red wine to add to sauces, gravies, meatballs etc.
