Welp our trusty weathermen and women screwed up again !! The low was supposed to be 39°f. I got up at 6am and it was 32°f outside !! I didn't cover any of my veg. If my turnip seedlings all get frosted I am not going to be a happy camper !!
Strong atmospheric river has caused flooding as the rivers are over flowing its banks. The western PNW has had with 10” of rain over the last 3 days. The pastures are huge ponds the ground is so saturated. Portland has issued a combined rainfall warning that human waste has reached the Willamette river and to stay clear of its waters as the rising river escapes it’s banks. The heavy rainfall lead to nearly two dozen river flood warnings, and almost three dozen river gauges are seeing moderate to major flood stage , many of those still rising. Eighteen river gauges are forecast to measure major flood river levels, and several of those expected to hit record crests by Thursday. There were also landslides in the Columbia Gorge, east of Portland, near Cape Horn, Washington, and a mudslide briefly shut down a stretch of Interstate 90 in the Washington Cascades just after midnight Wednesday morning. I am located higher than the areas affected by overflowing rivers. However the roads downstream are flooded and cannot drive to town the last few days. I’m prepared for these events no worries . Cleaning the roof has made a big difference to prevent rain from building up and or seeping inside. I’m not planning on doing anything outside for the next few days. Not ready to be plummeted by limbs and needles from the pine trees. I am now very glad I had all the diseased trees removed. It’s a relief that no trees will fall on my home. Where as my trees are downed in the PNW and power outages. No internet again today however , using my iPhone to post today. Some pics.
Wow, what a mess all that rainfall makes !! Thank goodness you' not living close to any rivers !! We had, back in 2007, 3 Tropical storms back-to-back. I was on a hill but the Suwanee came through town and that bridge was impassible and I couldn't go west because it went downhill and all those roads were flooded. It took 5 or 6 days for it all to go down. I had a surprise pond on the farm form just full of croaking frogs where no pond had been there for years. Those frog eggs last decades in dry soil.
