Here is a different type of weather forecast for the PNW. It’s dark and overcast from the smoke blowing over from all the forest wildfires currently in the PNW. None are close to us but it’s a little unsettling. After viewing the smoke map and wildfire map I was blown away by so many wildfires currently burning and the poor quality of air. Wildfire season has been officially declared to be the months from June thru October. It’s not air friendly out in my garden the past few days and the electric service has cut off our electricity 3 times just in the last few days. Thank goodness no ash is amounting to much around the garden. High 65-F…. Low-58F
It must be very unsettling Pac, poor air quality is a scary feeling...you can feel yourself breathing it into your lungs. We have had a fair few wild fires on our nearby county borders this summer but thankfully not near enough to have a direct impact on us. Take care.
Oops just having a coffee break from a gardening session and realised I haven't posted our forecast for today. So far it's been perfect gardening weather......long may it last.
The weather this month has been a lot like the weather all summer: downright idiotic. This year in the PNW, it rained and was cold until the middle of June. Of course, we had a couple single days of over 90°, but then it dropped down into the 80s, then the 70s, and then the 60s again. And stayed there. I had the heat on in July at times. Now last week we were supposed to have a couple more days of 90+ temps. Those were downgraded to the lower 80s. This week we're in the 70s again. Add to this, we've had overcast all summer long and it's not entirely because of the fire. It's just the stupid weather. We'll have overcast until noon or beyond and about when the shade is over or the sun is going down, the sun will come out. I've had to move my blueberries because by the time the sun comes out, the afternoon shade is already over them. Everything should be able to get 6 to 7 hours of sun this time of year. Most of my plants are getting maybe 2 hours, if they're lucky. And it's going to be like this for the rest of the month, too. There's only two things growing this year: weeds and marigolds. I have marigolds that are 12 inches high. I never even knew they got that large. But I'd prefer my corn to grow. The weather was like this last year, too. And now they're talking about another La Nina for this winter which means another summer next year like this year. I think I'll go pave my entire yard.
Seems we have all suffered from adverse summer weather this year ,@rodentraiser . We've had high temps and no rain which has affected all of our gardens/ plants too. We just have to try our best and make the most of the weather we are given but agree it can be very disheartening. Changes need to be made in future to the way we garden and to what we can grow with reasonable success due to climate changes.
It was partly cloudy today but there were periods where it Completely clouded over. This afternoon we got an inch of rain. High 89°f low was 69. @rodentraiser the weather everywhere is having it's ups and downs. One minute it feels like fall, the next it's summer. They say winter is going to be cold and snowy. I don't mind about the cold and snow. Just so long as it doesn't get into the 90's in January when my cold season veg are in the ground !!

Looking good today, which is good news as we have a hectic day ahead needing to go to both nearby cities, one this morning and the other for an appointment and hopefully ...lunch.
