My Glads bloomed today for the first time, I got so excited I sent pictures to everyone in my family with a cell phone, I think I might have even done a little happy dance. This is my first time planting Glads, I always get excited when a new plant blooms for me, I especially love when I plant a mix of colors & never know which one is going to bloom first. I wonder if gardening can ever be considered an "unhealthy" hobby? Or...an addiction. I can just picture the meetings: "HI my name is Stephanie & I am a gardening addict, I knew I had a problem when I couldnt stop planting flowers or pulling weeds."
congrats on your glads. But don't think gardening would ever be unhealthy-there's so much good therapy about it. though I do like your meeting comment.
Wheelbarrow-lifting, rose thorn and secateur accidents aside I think gardening can only be considered as a healthy hobby, both physically and mentally. Here is an interesting article that I posted a reprint of some 3 years back: Horticultural Therapy
My mother claims that working in the garden may be compared to other addictions, since the wallet often suffers. However, the side effects from gardening are much, much healthier than those from other addictions, so I just keep gardening.
"HI my name is Stephanie & I am a gardening addict, I knew I had a problem when I couldnt stop planting flowers or pulling weeds." Hello one and all. My name is Eileen and I'm as addicted to gardening now as I was 30 odd years ago. I think I'm an incurable case.
