It is from Arizona my cousin had seeds.Its called Bird of Paradise by the people that gave the seeds to her.I know thats not it does any one know its name?The limbs are pinkish looking.

There is a plant that looks something like yours that is called
Desert or Mexican Bird of Paradise
It's Caesalpinia pulcherrima

It's not a Mimosa family even tho the leaves are similar

They are all in the legume family Fabaceae. Very similar leaves and their blooms all have similar characteristics....that's why there is some confusion as to the proper ID.

Do you know if it grows fast and if its ok to plant it in the ground after and if we get any rain.Yours is very pretty Cheryl.

I started mine from seed this spring. It's growing "slow" to me. I know that my sis-in-law has her's planted in the ground. She's near Baytown, TX and it's doing well.

This one is planted from seeds.My cousin lives in Cold Springs and she has 2 of them planted in the ground.They were doing good when I was at her home.She gave this one to me in the pot.I think I'm going to put it in a big pot and see if it will grow faster.
