Busy, Busy This Spring!
Category: Gardening,Butterflies, Birds | Posted: Sat Apr 03, 2010 10:54 pm Well, Spring has come once again to western North Carolina, and I am finding it very hard to keep up with everything. I am slowly working on my butterfly garden re-do in the afternoons after work. I have managed to get one edge replanted in Anise Hyssop and Coreopsis "Baby Sun". I have to go slow, so I won't kill some of the expensive plants I have scattered around all over the "old" butterfly garden I have planted some of my tomato plants, in the vegetable garden even though I know there will be another frost before Mother's Day. I am planning to put a frame around them to protect them. I am trying to work on articles for my butterfly site, and write a butterfly book as well. I stay tired, but it sure makes me happy to be able to get back outside again! I hope you all are having fun too! This blog entry has been viewed 300 times
My Butterfly Garden Plants are Coming Up!
Category: Gardening,Butterflies, Birds | Posted: Fri Mar 12, 2010 2:15 pm I planted some of the seeds for my new butterfly garden the other day, and this morning I noticed that they are already coming up! That sure happens quick sometimes. It looks like I will have plenty of new plants to re-do my butterfly garden as soon as the ground warms up. I love starting plants from seed, to me they seem more healthy than the ones I buy at the store. They also grow better once they are in the ground. Well, I have to get back to work now. Beautiful day, snow is almost gone!
Category: Gardening,Butterflies, Birds | Posted: Tue Mar 09, 2010 4:56 pm It is a beautiful day today in North Carolina, the temp is in the lower 60's and I am finding it very hard to focus at work today. I want to go play in the dirt! Of course the ground is way to wet to do anything right now, but I would still love to be able to get outside. It Snowed...Again!
Category: Gardening,Butterflies, Birds | Posted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:26 pm Well, just as the last snow was finally beginning to go away, my yard is completely covered in snow again. This time the paper said we got at least 8 inches. I can sure believe it, my little car had a rough time getting into the driveway last night. I grew up in Georgia, and it hardly ever snows down there. This winter, I have had lots of practice at driving in the snow. It ain't so bad once you get used to it. I still want spring to get here though, my new plants are growing too fast, and I am beginning to wonder if maybe I started them too soon. This blog entry has been viewed 316 times
Ordered more seeds!

It has been bothering me; the days are passing, and soon it will be time to get started. I think I should have everything ordered now. Once they get here, I will get them started. I really go a little overboard with my gardening projects, but luckily my husband just smiles and gets out of my way. I can hardly wait for spring! This blog entry has been viewed 281 times
My Butterfly Garden
Category: Gardening,Butterflies, Birds | Posted: Wed Feb 24, 2010 4:40 pm I am starting new plants for my butterfly garden, it is about 4 years old and it needs a facelift, bad! I am going to totally change things around and make it more formal and accessible for me. Right now it looks more like a butterfly meadow than a garden. I want to be able to sit and watch all the butterflies that visit my butterfly garden. I plan to make formal beds of perennial and annual flowers, along with some host plants thrown in for good measure. I will keep one small section as a "butterfly meadow" for all the wildflowers that the butterflies love.
