Red Garden

Category: Garden Designs | Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 11:42 am

After much contemplation I decided to use red as the main color for a bed in front of our house. Along with two bright red double Knock Outs, I used 2 red verbenas, 2 red (yes red) dianthus and 5 English boxwoods to define the border and provide winter interest. There are large shrubs (not sure of variety) behind this border and grass in front. I used red to pick up on the brick of the house and to provide colorful interst from the street. I have two large white containers on the stoop with red caladiums and begonias. Sounds like a lot of red but I decided that the one color with a lot of plant variety would have more punch than a mixture since this is a small bed.

Red certainly attracts a lot of attention when planted in a agrden and you seem to have a nice variety of plants. I, too, would love to see photogrphs.

Red is lovely, good luck with your red garden. I'll just queue up with the others and wait for photos.
