Wrecking CrewToday the wrecking crew visited me. Two granddaughters, who will be 4 and 5 in August, destroyed my house and wore me out in about 4 hours today. First we had to blow bubbles, outside of course. Then friends came to visit and took them and the dog for a walk. They walked a mile or so and I thought they would be tired. Nope, they were just getting started. We took all the portable lights in the bedroom, built a tent, turned out all the lights and "camped." And lunch was like going to school, we had to trade bites to see who had the best jello, cookie or whatever. By the time they left they had played with all the dolls, stuffed toys, lego blocks, books and movies and they were all over the floor. I told my husband that I usually go to their house and there parents had to do all the clean up. But then we would have missed all the fun playing with them. Emilie and Brooke start pre school and kindergarten this fall and I can feel sorry for the teachers. They don't get paid enough. Brooke hit her head on the window and Emilie looked at us and said "and what do you have to say for yourselves now!" For all the pick up we did, they did some, and no matter how tired we were we really enjoyed them. But next time we will go to their house. Wannabe This blog entry has been viewed 646 times

Well, kids do tend to drag everything out. I wish mine would come and play. I talked to Andy last night and I guess everyone will be here in August even if only a few days. Maybe a four day weekend. He said Tom has a new job so they can't stay long, but they will bring Erin and Fintin. They can all destroy the campground. I'm glad you enjoyed playing with them. I'm sure they enjoyed playing with you. They'll remember going to grandma's house when they get older. I remember things like that. dooley
I know you all enjoyed them but oh the mess thats left behind. They will remember their day and you sure wont forget it.I'm glad fun was had by all.
The things we do for the children, eh? Sounds like you had a good day despite of the mess. You'll remember it fondly when they're a bit bigger. *lol*
I talked to my son today. They were asleep before they were half way hme and slept until 7 this morning. I guess we wore them out also. Wannabe
They must have certainly enjoyed their time with you to keep going so strong. What wonderful memories for all of you. :)
Cute story! I have a 4 year old grandson, so I can relate. He is non-stop when he comes to visit us! He knows where his toys are and drags them out, but he also likes to snoop and play with whatever he can get his little hands on. It amazes me that he can remember things from previous visits like what kind of cookies were in the cupboard to where we keep a small flashlight that we prefer he not mess with! He has the best imagination too. He loves to help water the plants, so I'm looking forward to his assistance in the spring! Login or register to leave a comment. |
