Autumn 2011 veggie patch startup again

Category: general growing conditions | Posted: Wed May 18, 2011 11:59 am

Well, it's that time again!
The rains have returned, and it seems not much survived summer.
After removing dead stuff and Rob rotary hoeing the long beds, applying mulch to retard weed growth, it's time to plant winter growing veggies.
Bought seedlings of broccoli, heaps of herbs a few roses and today, a mulberry tree!
Today I spent the entire morning sowing seeds in trays and the ground.
I've done peas, carrots, spinach, celery, silverbeet, beetroot, kohlrabi. lettuce, shallots, onion, Chinese broccoli, and lots of others.

I can't wait!!!! The rain will do all my watering for me!
Amazing feeling, gearing up again.

I love this feeling so connected to the earth, rain, sun!

Hi Deb-- Good to hear from you again.

You sure sound enthousiastic, and rightfully so. I am glad that the heat is beginning to subside there. How are things in Busselton these days?

It seems like you are sowing lots of good things. I hope that it is going to be a good growing season for you.

Well, good luck to you there please do keep us posted on your progress (with piccies if possible). I like to see fotos.

Hi there Sjoerd,
Nice to hear from you again.
It's been awhile since I had time to check In with gardenstew.
The same goes for my garden too.
I've been using my iPhone to post and check the site, I've taken pics of the garden too, but can't seem to get the pics onto the site. It mustn't support the technology of iPhone pics. Never mind, will just have to do it on the computer next time it's on.
Cheers,
Deb

Well, first setback. I bought a little greenhouse to start seeds off. We've just had a big blow, and it toppled over, (it was on the verandah) sending seedraising mix and seeds along the verandah, and smashing pots. Blow!
Time to start again!!
