Gardening in Orlando, FL

Category: Garden, Flowers and Citrus in Orlando, FL | Posted: Fri May 07, 2010 7:52 pm

I have been living in Orlando for 25 years. Our weather is hot and humid and we seldom get any freezing weather. When the weatherman tells us it will be in the middle 30's, I start to worry. You will find me getting out all the old bedspreads, blankets, sheets and other material ready to cover my plants. Our tangerine tree, grapefruit tree and two orange trees are too big to cover.

My small garden is located on the outside of a screen swimming pool. I am using Earth Boxes for some vegetables. They work very well for me. I have a barrel that has liquid fertilizer for the tomato plants that I have on the swimming pool deck. The liquid is pumped in about 6 times a day and it stays for 15 minutes in each pot and is then pumped back to the barrel. The plants are all blooming and I have lots of tomatoes growing on the plants.

I will put up some pictures. Thanks for looking.
