Help me get rid of these squirrels.I am planting my spring garden and the squirrels are digging holes to find acorns that have fallen from a large oak tree. Everyday I find small holes all through the garden. One evening I sprayed malathion on the ground of the garden hoping they would not like the smell. It did not work. I read on the internet to put mothballs in the garden. It helped some but they still dig for acorns. I am getting ready to use some spices and hope they work to keep them away. I have three of my grow boxes planted with tomato plants I bought from Home Depot about 3 weeks ago. They are on the pool deck that is screened so the plants are safe from the squirrels. I am also growing peppers and lettuce in grow boxes this year. I am watering the garden everyday. Using a couple of drip hoses and garden misters. Our temperature has been mostly in the low 80's and we have seen no rain for two weeks. May is suppose to start our wet season for Central Florida. I hope it start raining in April. I planted 3 asparagus roots for my husband this year. He really likes the tips. I don't care for this vegetable. I never have try to grow this plant. I don't know what the plant looks like as it grows. Pictures later when the plants are big enough to see. This blog entry has been viewed 165 times

The acorns are making it to the ground? My hazelnuts only make it to the ground as shells. Squirrels are the furry-tailed rats of my existence. Nice to hear about the weather in other parts of the country. Our wet cold weather has made outside not a nice place to be. Love to see photos of your vegies growing. It will be months yet before ours are out.
