Spring is coming!

Category: Shaw's Life Lessons | Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2015 2:45 pm

I can finally feel it in the wind, it is no longer blisteringly cold outside, in fact i can feel warmth coming in the wind, and I like it. We are lucky, the temperature is a mild 30-50 degrees, because if the snow all melted at once, we are screwed.

So I have yet to start an plants, I will sometime in the middle of april, unless i want to get dirty sooner i'll start at the beginning, though I did set up some spearmint and thyme seeds, and the thyme is.... growing much better than I anticipated.

My stevia is gorgeous, even though the main part had died, but it really wants to live and flourish, and it is sooooo tasty! My aloe is alive, and I even started some cactus, my son hates it because it hurts, though they are still only seedlings, and nothing has grown on them yet lol. My bromilaid is still alive, which is saying something good about it, not really growing, but i didn't plan on it to get much bigger than it is already.

I have a really beautiful Jade plant, I want it to grow really friggen big, I saw one that was enormous, and I was like, duuude! I want that! So i'm in the process of having my Jade just plain GROW! It's exciting to see :D

I hope everyone down south is enjoying that 70+ weather, I can't wait for it here!!

Titles are boring

Category: Shaw's Life Lessons | Posted: Fri Jan 09, 2015 10:41 am

So the last two days are hopefully the worst of our chill. it was between 2 and 6 with wind chill of -19 to -16 Cold, not to mention the little snow that did fall was loose so it blew in your face.

I had to make sure to keep my kid warm and bundled because surprisingly they did NOT cancel school. Nope, last year they did at a mere 5 degree weather with -12 winchil >.>; Hypocrites I tell ya!

I have had to endure it going to and from work... I have to walk so it's not exactly good for me but a girls' gotta get paid! There were no incidents.

What I have to deal with at work is another thing and i won't turn this into a negative post so no work talk. But it's been stressful let me tell you. Me and people don't tend to get along sometimes. And i'm put near one of the worst of them >.<

I'm praying and hoping that leaves are enough to keep my straberries alive... I don't think so because they are in a pot above ground and I feel so terrible, because they would have made such delicious berries. I put tons of leaves around the pot, but I can only hope they, my rosemary, chives, and sage survive... *they were still green last week except my strawberries*

Finally time

Category: Shaw's Life Lessons | Posted: Wed Dec 31, 2014 11:10 pm

To start writing something, I mean since it is the end of 2014. Might as well start at some point and now is a good time.

What I hope to accomplish in 2015 is pretty much the same as I have in the beginning of 2014. Better days, feel more comfy and find a reason to really love life more. I'll add on a bigger harvest for this year, now that I'm getting more and more into gardening, and hopefully will have many things growing in this year to come as well as my son learning to stop asking why with every little thing I say, and listening when he really should. As for what I want for myself, I want to learn to be more patient, and healthier physically, emotionally and mentally. It will be hard but I will do what I can to survive.
