this too vanished!!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Thu Jul 07, 2011 5:02 am

well, we have a lot of butterflies in the garden. the annoying thing is, before the reach the flying away stage, they vanish. they lay their eggs, then the caterpillars are out, they eat up a whole plant, then they go into the pupa stage, then, gone. must be the birds. anyway, it is the rule of nature.
some pics.

rain!rain!!rain!!!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Tue Jun 07, 2011 5:35 am

The monsoon has set in at the right time. rains everyday, keeps on raining. work outside is not easy. plants need a lot of trimming and pruning once the rain slows down. but the heat of the summer has gone, it is very cool this time of the year.

i had been waiting for this plant to flower for a very long time. and this year, it has bloomed. i just love the fragrance it gives, heavenly.

it's worth the wait!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:50 am

wow! i had to wait for two years to get one of these flowers to bloom again. when i bought this plant which i was told was called ripsalis - there were one or two buds on it. it bloomed and then nothing. last year, there were the beginning of a few buds, but some hoppers ate them up. so, i had to wait for another year.and..... here goes!

buds & blooms!

Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Sat Feb 05, 2011 6:56 am

well, today, let me post some of my anthuriums. the pink one took about 10 days to reach the stage A5. same time with red one also. Ever wonder how the buds are folded and kept tight before it blooms full? i love how the lantana flowers are folded when they are buds. beautiful. compared with that, anthurium folds are simple.
i read in the reader's digest about a professor who holds a doctorate in origami - mathematician Eric Demaine (rd - december issue) he teaches the mathematics of folding paper.

ok, here are my flowers -
