Cut back in the spring when the new buds are on, but not open. Once established, it is a very hardy shrub and blooms all summer.

For performance, I give it four stars, but I think the flowers are kind of ugly. It has never had black spot, powdery mildew, or a pest problem. It flowers earlier than most of my other roses, often has blooms into November (not that it's the only rose in my garden that blooms in November), and flowers continuously through the summer. The bush rarely needs trimming and is a pleasant round shape. The only flaw I find with it is its ugly blooms.
