Similar to Hakonechloa macra Aureola, but somewhat more erect. Leaves are green and white striped as opposed to Aureola's which are more golden. This Hakonechloa grows faster than Aureola (which is very slow growing), and will fill a 2X4 area withen 3 years. Cut back the dying winter foliage in early spring. Like all plants with variegated foliage, Hakone grass will light up a shady spot.
