Why do I keep this plant? Rasty look, reseeds everywhere...I guess you can't go excluding people if they're just pushy..

Abandoned home sites and older homes in South Dakota often include this rose. A rasty bush that becomes glorious in June. People like to argue about whether it is "the" yellow rose of Texas.

Has not set seed for me..but that might be different in a place with a longer season. Related to mint, and does spread, but maybe not so vigorously, or maybe it is just cold here. I would be cautious if I lived in a warmer place.

In the last few years it seems like so many I see at big box stores have aster yellows-right there in the store! In my area there is a lot of it, and also a mite in the cone that makes it look bizarre. But I still start my own seeds and pull any with problems, since I like the plant.

This is not a formal plant, but has a lot of wildlife value here. I like finding natives with a lot of beauty for my garden. My photo is of the cultivar "Orange Carpet"

White and pink are selected varieties. I've read that seeds are difficult to germinate. Not as drought tolerant as I had hoped, but I need to get some mulch for this one. Best growing in groups, or with other plants.

Old fashioned variety. It will bloom as long as it keeps growing. Grown for its attractive leaves with deep red backs. I enjoy a house plant that will bloom in Feb/March. Mine would be a little happier if it was warmer in my house in the winter.

aseedisapromise (874) wrote the following about Begonia x tuberhybrida 'Nonstop Mocca White' on Mar 05 2015 (Last edit was on Mar 05 2015)

Beginner if you are buying the tubers and treating as an annual. More challenging if you start your own seed or overwinter them in a cold climate. Safer if you let it dry out between waterings. Like most begonias likes to have both moisture and air around its roots.

This is a really pretty plant also sold as an annual here in a colder zone. I gave mine away as my house is too cold for it in the winter. (We heat with wood) and it wasn't happy with me. But I am always happy to see it at my friend's house!

Nice plant for the cottage garden. Will reseed, but mixtures of colors will go to blue over time. Flowers are insignificant and short-lived, but colorful bracts are long lasting in the vase, or dried.
