It is a native fern that is of medium size (which is hard to find one that stays a reasonable size). Although it likes more of a rain forest environment than my dry front yard it seems to be doing well under the shade of a semi-dwarf apple tree.

This plant has self sown under my cherry tree. I have move many of the starts to other locations in my yard. As long as the plants have winter sun and summer shade they seem to thrive in my garden.
