The lipstick plant has trailing stems and it cascades gracefully from hanging baskets. Though the tabular flowers has withered after a week, but I see new foliage and also many tiny buds inside a tubular case. It appears to thrive well in a warm, sunny but shady place. My faces the South. The lipstick plant grows best in a loose, well-drained soil, high in sphagnum peat moss and sharp sand or perlite. Repot infrequently as the plant blooms best if slightly potbound.

This is a lovely plant. It is the County flower of Hertfordshire UK where I live, growing on the limestone hills.

A very decorative shrub that often starts it's blooming in late December/early January if the temperatures are above freezing. The leaves come out after the blooming is over. It self-seeds freely, but the bush itself is slow-growing.
