This is a parasitic vine with orange vines/stems. They have no leaves, because they receive all nutrients from the host plants. After the seeds sprout and they become attached to the host plant, they drop their connection with the soil and rely solely on the host plant.

I love the color change these blooms go through. The May 29th photo is the just opened bloom in yellow, the June 2nd photo is the same bloom turning a darker red-orange.

To stop it becoming a nuisance it needs to either grown in a container or be surrounded by a barrier underground to stop the rhizomes from spreading at will.

I found them to be very invasive too. And I did not have a wide open space to let them roam. I finally just dug them up.

It is VERY invasive after a couple years and will completely take over where you have other plants. Be careful and select a wide open space. It has thick roots and must be dug out.

I have only owned this plant for a couple of years. It is spreading very slowly. It is useful as a edge plant in shady areas. Can tlerate drought well, once established. Can grow under trees. I suspect I will find this a very useful plant once it spreads more.
