Cayuga Morning (1356) wrote the following about Lychnis viscaria on Jun 02 2012 (Last edit was on Jun 02 2012)

Beautiful little plant. In my New England garden, it blooms at the end of May, beginning of June, along with the Siberian iris. The flowering stems grow up to 16" tall, above a rosette of small spikey leaves only 4" tall. The flowers have the effect of "floating" above the foliage, as there is a gap between the bottom of the flowers and the top of the foliage. They bloom at the same time as siberian iris and the pink of the Lychnis goes very well with the blue-purples of the siberian iris.

Very pretty houseplant, don't put it in the ground though. It's extremely invasive. Very easy to grow.

Native to Eastern US and a favorite way to scare folks that they are in poison ivy. Great fall color. Happy to have it around, though it is a vine and can run on you. Not hard to keep in check.

Invasive (or just really annoying) in my area of NE US.

Horrible invasive. Tough to kill. Wish I knew what its competitors were.

I don't think this is Creeping Charlie, unless there are others of that horrible, invasive beast. I could easily be wrong.

Argh beautiful plant, but its a pain in my behind! It was already in the yard when we moved in, Its laying on the ground the stake is broken and i think it will never stand up because its been down long before we got here. And it doesn't want to move I've tried, so there it will stay! And now I shaped it into a ball....

Ours is a hot banana pepper plant, think we took our first one off to early but it looked ready. WOW hot and not what I expected! Thought it was a regular sweet banana pepper! Grows really fast! Very easy to care for.
