I have some bushes of Black Currant in my garden. They were very old bushes. Every year I prune all 7-8 years old branches, and my Black Currant gives me more and more berries. I use its leaves when I pickle my cucumbers, the leaves make better the taste and are preservative in a bottle.

This plant will certainly let you know when its thirsty. It will get very droopy leaves and look like its going to die, but just flood it with some water and within a couple of hours it will spring back and look healthy again.

A trailing shrub bearing dense clusters of small tubular purple flowers.
Flowers: small, bilaterally symmetrical, with narrow tube and flared top; pinkish to light purple with paler throat; in dense rounded clusters.
Leaves: 1" (2.5 cm) long; rough-surfaced and coarsely toothed.
Height: 18-36" (45-90 cm); trails along ground.
This garden plant has escaped from cultivation and is growing naturally in some areas of the United States. It is considered an invasive plant in the Southeast, but is not as noxious as some of the other non-native Lantana species.

This plant covers my whole yard in the beginning of spring and makes it almost pink with its many tiny flowers. It is a pretty ground cover for a little while until it dies off and the grass returns to normal. It self seeds and returns every year.

I've heard it was called a "Friendship Plant" because it needs to be thinned out/divided alot. For me here in zone 9a, it starts to bloom in late November and only last a few weeks, depending on the temperatures.
