We love growing sweet peas. I eat them right off the vine. They grow quite well in the winter months in Florida.

Easily propagated with rooting hormone on green stem cutting. Does not tolerate frost. Needs to be covered if frost expected. All parts are poisonious if ingested. Sap can irritate sensitive skin. Plant can be trained to a small tree for a focal point. Or can be allowed to bush out. Beautiful red flowers on this particular one.

When these shrubs reach maturity, they also have beautiful flower sprays.

It grows really well in Michigan. I'm always excited to see the flowers in mid October.

Although it is not winter hardy in my zone 5, I grow this outdoors during the warm months and then enjoy it inside. Love the purple colored foliage.

It was too bitter and spicy for me. Very overpowering.

This plant is somewhere between a shrub and a perennial in my garden. The stems remain from year to year, and the plant grows bigger and bigger. It responds well being cut back to manageable size.
The foliage is very attractive and not bothered by bugs. The blossoms in the spring are an added bonus.

Grows wild in New England woods. Pretty wildflower.

I grow this plant outdoors in the summer in my zone 5 garden, then move it indoors in the winter. It has an interesting habit: when I water the plant indoors the leaves will "weep" droplets of pale maroon water.

Great plant. Makes a splash despite its diminutive size. Foliage stays attractive all season long. Unfortunately, is subject to rodent damage during winter in my garden. Also, plant gets no wider than 4" in my zone 5 garden.
