This plant can winter over outside in 8a, and has for 3 years now. Trick to growing these outside in area 8a, is to not cut the stems back after the leaves have dropped, until the hard frost is over in the spring. They like plenty of water, partial sun, not too hot, so the northwest is great for growing these plants. They like fertilizer.

Slowly self-sows about the garden, but is not invasive. The leaves hold raindrops or dew which sparkles in the sun. Charming

great plant. Provides pink flower color in the fall--unusual for that time of year. Can be invasive once extablished if planted in deep rich soil. Keep an eye on it. Provides great cut flowers in the vase.

Buds are beautiful, very longlasting blooms. Been hard to find a good new plant in our area to give to a friend, as all looked like they had a fungal leaf disease on them at the various garden stores here.

Great plant, recent introduction, mini-clematis, non-climbing. Reported to grow indoors on window sill. I have not tried this.

Cayuga Morning (1356) wrote the following about Clematis texensis on Aug 03 2011 (Last edit was on Jun 23 2013)

I have Clematis Texensis 'Princess Diana'. It is great in that it blooms the whole summer. The flowers are tulip shaped and upward facing, very charming. Make great additions to a summer bouquet.
All clematis like to have their roots shaded or mulched.
