Grown for it's foliage. Will get tall and stalks with get heavy enough to split. It's a good idea to "stake" them up.
Can be kept trimmed back if wanting to keep it in a container.

The tubers of the sunchoke are somewhat potatolike, but sweeter. The carbohydrate present is inulin rather than starch. Some people think the flavor resembles that of artichokes, but I find the flavor of the tuber is its own. Once planted you will have a supply that self propagates. Sunchokes are a native of the Great Plains of the central part of North America.

The crisp sweet crunch of the raw cleaned and chopped tuber can be added to a mixed musclun salad with cranberries and goat cheese and a fruity vinegarette dressing. Yum.

This is a great aquatic plant for goldfish fry to hide in and feed off of. The parrot feather is also a great oxygenator. Many aquatic plants for goldfish are consider noxious weeds in many regions and this is one of them. Never allow this plant to get into local waterways.

One of the hottest peppers in the world. Sought after for both heat and its unique flavor.

The peppers can also be blended and simply mixed in water to make insecticide.

Also, the hotter the temperature while growing, the spicier the peppers will be. This is true of most varieties of chili peppers.

Slow grower with early spring blooms, nice greenery, and an upright, but flowing habit make it an attractive specimen in a shady area.
