Much logged as a timber tree for it's rich red colour. Has a lignotuber underground which stores large amounts of water and nutrients, and in conjunction with it's deep roots ,enable it to regenerate after bushfires and drought. Flowers every alternate year, makes good honey. Native to south Western Australia forests and bush.

Grows in white or yellow sand but will tolerate other conditions as long as it is very well drained and nutrient poor. Needs, full sun and is used to temperatures from 30- 45 for at least 4-5 months of the year Grown for it's foliage which would look stunning against dark purples, reds, or bright greens. Comes from south of Perth, Western Australia
