This isn't so much about it in the garden, but I thought it was quite interesting, so I think I'll share it. Part of the Latin name of the Canvasback duck is a misspelled version of Vallisneria.

Gorgeous blooms; the only flaw I can find with it is that it is an annual and I have to buy a new one every year.
