Parts of plant are poisonous if ingested.

Consistently moist; do not let dry out between waterings. Very high moisture needs. Suitable for bogs and water gardens. May be considered a protected species.

Color varies with time of year. Shades of light green in spring, darkening in summer and bronze in winter. This plant can create a nice cover for pots as it hangs well or in a rock garden makes a nice ground cover. Pieces do break off easily and self root easily. Buy one and you can soon have lots. I have some growing between to old railroad ties.

I have two large pots of water filled with these. They winter over in Zone 7 even with some ice and snow. They do multiply quickly.

Loves to self-sew in dry well drained areas of my yard, especially between the bricks of the patio, on the south side of my house. Striking magenta pink against the silver foliage.

Fantastic butterfly plant. Attracts the frillaries and zebra longwing butterfles, as a larva sourse. Orange w/black spines and white w/ black spines cattapilars. harmless, but big eaters. Wouldn't have a graden withut this plant.

I love the periwinkles. Not only are they pretty but anticancer drugs have been developed from the alkaloids in the Rosy Periwinkle.

Indian Cup is a show stopper in late summer with it's daisy-like yellow flowers atop a 7' square stem. Monarch butterflies love it.
