Servings: 9x13 " panCook Time: according to the boxIngredients:

1 box Your Favorite Brownie Mix, one that will fit into a 9x13" pan

1 can Black Beans...with The Liquid, 15 oz. can

    Nuts, if desired

Nothing Else- Only The Brownie Mix, black beans, and nuts if you want. do not add oil, or eggs; this is all you need.

    Directions:

Put the brownie mix into a bowl.

Use a blender to liquefy the beans, add the liquid from the can, too.

Add the bean mixture to the brownie mix and stir well. Add nuts, if desired

Put them in the greased pan; Bake according to the box directions; if you think they need a little more time add more time. I can usually tell by looking at them if they need to be baked longer.

    Helpful Tips:

I have never had black beans before. I smelled them in the can and I wasn't too sure about it, but I went ahead and put them in the blender and then added them to the brownie mix. I couldn't taste the beans at all and just think of all the fiber you are adding to your diet...don't tell them what you did...see if everyone likes them and then after they are all gone. Go ahead and tell or keep it your secret. Add frosting if you like, I like to just sprinkle some powdered sugar on them...enjoy!

My husband ate these after supper tonight and he liked them...I asked him if he could tell what was in them and he couldn't. I showed him the empty can of Black Beans and boy did he have a surprised look on his face...he couldn't believe that I didn't use oil, eggs or water...

To paraphrase an old movie line..."that's crazy enough that it just might work!" I think I'll try it.

That was exactly why I tried it...I like to do things like that especially when the items are not that expensive. I think I paid 1.26 for the brownie mix and then I paid about .94 for the Bush's black beans from Walmart. ...boy, I was really surprised on how they turned out.

Sounds like a great recipe to try. I also have another recipe that calls for just cake mix and pumpkin. I've been making zucchini brownies too, but they use cocoa and lots of sugar.

Netty....I am not sure how much sugar, etc. is in the boxed mix. Usually I have always made mine from scratch but the gal that gave it to me said her family loved them so I thought I would give them a try.

I must ask--do the black beans give the brownies the famous result of eating beans?

And there's no taste of beans whatsoever? I dunno... I think I'm too scared to try it.

We eat black beans all the time. I use them instead of navy beans, which are famous for their explosive results, I don't ever notice the same or even similar results to navy beans.
