Not really a pretty thing but it is a neat fly. They are not all the same, there are some different colored ones.

Normally I'd agree that flies are not pretty, but this one is very artistically captured in your photo and it actually does look pretty. I find myself thinking of flies in a more tolerant vein...at least for a moment!

I know what you mean about different colours. We have a myriad of flies and some of them really ARE quite pretty to look at. I have a few that are metallic colours - gold and copper.
