Emergency surgery!!
Category: rambling | Posted: Mon Mar 12, 2007 2:37 pm I haven't been on here for a couple of weeks because of a very sick child.Hubby and I were awakened at 2:00 am on Wednesday morning,Feb. 28th by a screaming child and it wasn't the 6 month old it was the 8 year old! We were absolutely panic stricken. He was pale and started violently vomiting and holding his abdomen screaming it hurts. We called my mom who lives right across the street. She rushed over to keep an eye on our other children while we rushed to the ER. Well about an hour later we were in the waiting area while our son was undergoing an emergency appendectomy. His appendix had ruptured by the time we had arrived at the ER. We have never had anything happen like this before in our families and it was so scary. He had to have the open surgery instead of the laposcopic surgery since his appendix had burst, so he had to stay in the hospital for a few days and have IV antibotics administered. He was released a week ago today. He is still pretty sore and freaks anytime someone gets near him. Wednesday he will go for his 2 week check-up. He will find out if he will be able to return to school then.I've been picking up his school work each afternoon when I pick up our 6 year old. He is afraid he is going to have to have surgery also and has been having panic attacks. We have had to take him in for medication, the doctor said it is a type of post tramatic syndrome from seeing his brother go through so much. We give him the medication only if he feels panicy,it makes him very loopy and I don't like to give it to him. Luckily he has only needed it twice. Wow you don't realize how much something like this affects everyone!Thank goodness my mom lives right across the street and has been able to help us through all of this. I don't know how we would have made it without her!!! Well I guess I had better go for now. This blog entry has been viewed 844 times
My take on cauliflower
Category: rambling | Posted: Tue Feb 27, 2007 5:36 pm I'm taking time this morning to ramble about cauliflower! Looking through my seed catalogs this year I've noticed colored cauliflower -purple, orange, green and regular old fashioned white. Were those there last year? If so I overlooked them-must have been chasing a kid or the cat at the time! Colored cauliflower hmmmmm? Hey I might get my 6 and 8 year olds to maybe take a taste and find out they really like it! I personally love a big plate of cauliflower loaded with lots of wonderful cheese sauce, but my hips tend to spread along with the cheese! Oh well ya know I could eat it then just go chase a kid or the cat! Good concept! I just keep surprising myself! teehehe !Ok back to the cauliflower. My 6 month old loves his little jar of broccoli and chicken, I know I was talking about cauliflower not broccoli, hold on this is getting somewhere (rambling remember!).My 6 and 8 year olds say "He likes it because he's a baby and he doesn't know any better"! Oh and if the baby spits out what he doesn't like everyone laughs at him like he is a tiny stand-up comic. If the big boys tried that their act would not go over so well! Purple cauliflower covered in cheese might stir some interest huh? Maybe not, maybe I would be the laughing stock in my own home! Another problem, is cauliflower a cool weather plant? Would it grow good in our hot, muggy, humid climate? Guess I need to do my research before considering the colored cauliflower huh? Oh well a mom can dream, but no matter how much I dress up that pretty purple cauliflower, I think this mom can give up the dream of her 6 and 8 year olds eating cauliflower! Hey I could grow it and hubby and I could eat all of it ourselves!! Good concept! There I go again surprising myself! teehehe!
