My world with Nature.

Photographs, and a few words about the birds that visit the garden and those that I manage to see.

A green tree frog

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Fri Apr 16, 2010 5:47 am

Went lookng for a couple of rare plants today, so rare that they are counted each year. Anyway, I saw this frog and I had to take a few picture. We were also startled when we came across a Canada goose and it flew up squawking and making such a din.We were up on a mountain and miles from water, the last thing we expected was a nesting goose.

Walk up a mountain.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Fri Feb 05, 2010 6:12 am

It was quite a walk up one on the local mountains today. Lots of lichens, mosses were everywhere, photographed the rarest fern on the island. This was a small pond that we past, thought it was worth a picture.

A first for me.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Fri Jan 22, 2010 6:19 am

Had the chance to take some photos of a wood duck, it has to be one of the best looking ducks that there is. Its colours are amazing. I know some people see them often like I see the bald eagles and the herons, but then you know, sometimes they are not quite as common in other parts of the country. It is a big country too.

Downy Woodpecker.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Mon Jan 11, 2010 6:25 am

I've had five woodpeckers visit the garden and this downy is one. The flicker hasn't been around for a while to the feeders but I have seen them in the garden.

These lesser scaup also come out this way for the winter. There are sometimes 20 or more of them together.

Harlequin ducks

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Mon Jan 04, 2010 4:50 pm

I don't see these too often and would like to get a few more photos of them. The male is really odd coloured, the female is rather dull.

Two wigeon at the lagoon.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Sun Jan 03, 2010 6:21 am

A lot of the ducks come here for the winter from the prairies and return there to nest. Gives me a great chance to get images of them. Here are a couple of American Wigeon. I have an Eurasian wigeon too.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Fri Jan 01, 2010 10:03 pm

We had a bit of frost this last week and the ducks had a little bit of trouble walking on the ice. Here are a couple of the mallards.
