Photographs, and a few words about the birds that visit the garden and those that I manage to see.

Coopers Hawk vsits

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Mon Nov 20, 2017 5:05 pm

The coopers hawks, one or the other, come to see who is visiting. This one was here a day ago. I have 16 to 18 species come to the different feeders each day. When you add in the male and female it makes for an interesting days watching.

Rare bird

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Fri Apr 15, 2016 9:20 pm

A rare bird is making itself quite comfortable in our Mt. Ash tree. A red naped sapsucker. Over 20 birders have come to see it, all the top ones in the area. Will try to post a picture here, if I can't get it to work I will post it in the bird section.

Last year snow

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Mon Nov 03, 2014 9:24 pm

Do you mean like this Eileen? I've been out there at 2 in the morning changing the feeders. I usually have two out and two inside ready to swap them over. We don't get a lot of snow here in Victoria, I grab a few shots when it does come.

Perched hummer.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Mon Nov 03, 2014 7:49 pm

Not the picture I want to get but we don't usually have two hummers near each other. One waits and the other flies in. They stay all year round.

Pileated returns

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Fri Oct 24, 2014 6:18 pm

I usually have some pileated woodpeckers through most of the year and today one arrived back. She went straight to the usual feeding spot.
