I find it surprising that it's grown more for foliage than flowers; the flowers are very pretty.

Great ground cover for semi shaded areas with a purple flower spike in the spring. Multiples rapidly in rich soil through runners/stolons

I'm trying to transplant them in different places to use as ground covers and weeding off as much grass as I can - especially on the slopes to reduce mowing on the slopes...it is very hard work. I love the chocolate ajugas. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Rating for this plant:
The flowers are very pretty and do well in arrangements, but the plant is highly aggessive in my yard. It has taken over whole sections of our lawn. We do not use weed killer, so it is labor intensive, digging it up to get rid of it. Beware! I would not plant this plant! I have a friend in town who has had a similar experience: buying a property from someone else who let ajuga loose in the yard, then having to expend considerable effort once the plant has taken hold. I live in New England. Maybe elsewhere it is not so invasive? It is marketed though as a foolproof ground cover.
