****Old Well Pump turned Fountain*****

Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Sun Apr 22, 2007 12:33 am

Now today while at the Garden Show, we came across this old well pump turned into a neat fountain, they wanted $89.00.But Ron happened to remember one laying out behind Bates city antique shop, and made a quick call there .He decided to build his own, then buy the one at the garden show.
the $89.00 one.
a trip to lowes for the pump and stuff, and here is the start and finished project,,

Ron had a little more in his ,cause of the name on his, (GEM). He liked the top on his better, now it just needs to move out front away from my fountain. I am quite proud of his finished product, and it took him no time to put together!!

Walmarts got a new garden policy ...MAYBE...

Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Sat Apr 21, 2007 3:21 am

They finally got smart! Yes today while shopping at walmart in Blue Springs,Missouri, they were having a 50% off clearance sale "on their plants"...While i was outside going through their plant racks, the big bosses came outside. They were amazed by the quantity of women buying their reduced hanging baskets etc.
I SAID TO THEM , "YOU FINALLY GOT SMART!" They agreed with me,said "they figured it out finally!"
I told them of my dumpster diving years ago,and saving over 200.00 in geraniums, that they'd thrown away, that was in their Piedmont store though.
Any ways, i bought several hanging baskets for a little over 3.00 a piece, i was tickled!!

The other day at another walmart store (Oakgrove,MO}
they were throwing away cabbage plants in there trash buckets, thats was depressing to me, thinking of all that waste. I hope that today was a new start for all walmart stores.
Why wasnt that food(plants ) donated to churches to feed the poor,or some place where it could do good?
Listen up walmart and all other garden centers, you too will be judged...Feed our hungry, first! That will help your wallets in the long run when you gain the people's respect again! Even Sam might roll over in his grave .....and say "Its about time!".

Antique Garden Show this weekend

Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Fri Apr 20, 2007 2:12 pm

The premiere is tonight ,but the actual selling of items is tomorrow. Just costs a few dollars to get in.Were going tomorrow to see if the guy from Texas will be there selling all his trellis and things. The town is greenwood, here in missouri. Cant wait!!
Gonna rip out out some old clematis ,on garden shed and plant my hollyhocks i got yesterday. The clematis is looking really bad.I think the hollyhocks will give it a more cottage look on the garden shed wall.
garden shed.

Not sure what were doing today, butim sure it will involve plants and dirt,lol..

Will Kat get a bigger kitchen?

Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Wed Apr 18, 2007 1:03 am

This evening a carpenter came over from across the street, where their building new homes to talk with us for a minute on adding on to the house. the kitchen is on the back side of house, the 2 story side. The roof is complicated from the sunroom addition upstairs for us to figure out by ourselves.
This guy wasnt much help since we found out he was just maybe a trimmer or something, and we needed to talk to someone else.
We have been going back 'n forth over this subject of an addition.
The room below would be added on where we planned our 2nd pergola to go,not a major deal.
But it would give me space, a real sewing room, not the dinningroom ,that my sewing machine is in now.

pic taken fall of 2006...

closer pic 2006

the patio will be gone if we do,will have to remove all bricks further out.I also want a porch put on,in a L shape, like a old victorian house put on...fingers crossed!!!

The suns out, you know where i'll be...

Category: GARDEN ROOMS | Posted: Sun Apr 15, 2007 3:31 pm

Yup,out there enjoying it today. Im gonna haul all my cushions and stuff out of the house! Thank god i need the room. If the ground wasnt so wet id plant all those azealas we bought, they've been in the garden shed since bad weather was coming, they maybe blooming in there.
The quilt will be put off for today, maybe it will become a night project now, after dark...lol.

I picked up some other material and bought it at 1.00 a yard, for future projects,i hate when a idea hits ya to sew something up and no material to be found ,so im ready just in case.
Hope you all have a great day,and NEW ENGLAND makes it thru all this weather...Be safe brother of mine!
hugs
Kat
