New concept for the pond area(Water Garden)

Category: Water Garden Project | Posted: Wed Jun 01, 2011 3:21 am

Well the water garden has been replaced due to kids. The kids cracked the side of the pond so no water would stay in. So I had my husband drill holes in the bottom of it and filled it with dirt and planted the marigolds there this year. Behind it is a trellis with morning glories. They are all starting to grow I can not wait to see what it looks like when they are ready. I have also moved flowers and put them in the rocks to add some more color. There is a steel sign out there that says Live Laugh Love. I am currently looking for more sings like that. I also have a multicolored wind flower to put out but right now the wind is too strong it would break. I am looking for a solar powered spot light to put out pointing to the sign. I also have some angel statues to put out but I need to fix one of them the wings fell off. They need cleaned up and I was thinking about painting them to make them colorful. However, I have been told to keep them the white color that they are normally. I do not know what to do when it comes to them. Any ideas or input would be appreciated. As soon as I get them cleaned up I will put pictures of them to see if anyone thinks to keep them off white or make them color. Until the next time hope everyone is enjoying their gardening this year. Love looking at all the flowers and pictures. Enjoy and have fun!!!!

Figured it out

Category: Water Garden Project | Posted: Sat Jul 17, 2010 5:40 am

Hello

I have figured out what the plant or flower is that just started growing in my front flower bed. My neighbor called it a naked lady when the plant was there. She told me that the leaves die off and then all of a sudden the flowers start to grow and they are called lady fingers. I can not wait to see what they look like. I hope they are pretty. When I put the plant there I just thought it was another green plant to go with my rock area and pond. I wanted to surround the rocks with green plants. I am well on my way. I have one really big one up there and I planted a new one there a few weeks ago. However, the knew one is still blooming which makes me happy because it is really pretty orange flowers. I am not good on the names of flowers. (Sorry) I just get so excited about looking at them every day when I go out to check for weeds or to water them.

I must admit having a garden and flower beds to do what I want to do in them is an amazing thing. I can not wait to be able to buy my own home so I can really do up my yard and not feel bad about tearing up the yard. LOL. However luckily the man who owns this house does not care as long as it does not look bad. He is very happy with what I have done. The only thing I can see that may make him mad is if I move out I will be taking my pond with me so there may be a hole in the front flower bed. However, I am not even thinking about that right now.

I have the pond clean :)

Category: Water Garden Project | Posted: Sun May 16, 2010 4:04 am

The pond is now clean. I need to take a skimmer to it to get the little things floating in the water. But the water is now clear and you can see all the way to the bottom of the pond. I am so happy and I will finally be able to get it going in the right direction. Today was an amazing day to be outside and working on the yard. I accomplished so much today. Got the veggie garden ready to go for tomorrow, got all the weeds pulled, and I planted more flowers today. I now have zinnias and marigolds planted. This is the first time I have planted anything from seeds to grow, so I will see how this works out for me. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Last year I bought all plants and just transplanted them. This year I am working with seeds to see how well I can grow them. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Working on Rock area

Category: Water Garden Project | Posted: Wed May 05, 2010 5:02 pm

Today I am spending the time to pull all the weeds out from the rocks. It is taking a long time because there is a lot of weeds growig under the rocks. I will also be emptying the pond again and cleaning it out. Then I have to go find something to put in it to keep the bugs out and will not harm my plants I want to put in it. I also seen this solar light ta looks like a rock that I want to put on there with the other rocks. At first I wanted to put fish out there but I am afraid of all the cats that run around our community and they would also be in the sunlight. I do not know if the pond is deep enough for them to be able to stay out of the sun and cats. Still looking in to this.

another view of rock and pond ( photo / image / picture from daysmommy's Garden )

I am working on getting a water garden started. This is the way it lookes before I get it going. I need to get it cleaned out and ready to go. Hopefully it stops raining so I can get it emptied and then cleaned out. I really am not sure what to do with this because I have never done one before. I am excited although because I am actually allowed to do something to make my yard look nice. I will also have the oppurtunity to work out in my gardens to help take my mind off of school stress.
