Three pileated Woodpeckers.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Wed Aug 10, 2011 10:04 pm

Three pileated Woodpeckers come each day now, a female and two juveniles. I mangaed to get a shot of the three, not a great picture, but at least it shows the three birds.

Great capture. I didn't realize how big they were a photo like this helps to see their size.

Isn't it great to see youngsters in the garden? I haven't seen our woodpeckers for quite a while now but come winter I'm sure they'll return.

I am very envious. Pileated Woodpeckers are my favorite. What is drawing them there?

I have a few suet feeders spread around the deck and the pileated woodpeckers have been coming for 4 years now. The female brings the young ones and she feeds them. She has done this the last 3 years. Hence the three together. I also get a few downies, hairies and the flickers.
