This Hosta starts out with cream and green foliage, changes to green-and-white and finally to an all-green at the end of the season.

A very stately perennial with enormous leaves that self-seeds freely. Good for summer screening or as a solitaire.

A pretty, little Lewisia that is good at self-seeding. If you don't dead-head you'll have voluntary plants popping up here and there. It's such a small and sweet plant so I welcome them.

A very well-behaved grass. It doesn't wander off like some ornamental grasses. Needs dividing when it dies out in the middle. Looks very good with purple foliage plants.

Just kidding, you don't want these things in a hanging basket, or anywhere near the garden, they are terribly invasive, and can cause severe reactions.

This tiny mint has a big scent. It grows like a moss and young plants are easily mistaken for weed until you touch it. To enjoy the delicate little flowers you need to bring a magnifying glass.

This plant ranges from a bushy plant to woody vine. It can grow anywhere. It leaves deposits of irritating resin on anything it contacts. Do not burn as the smoke carries the allergen.

Highly treasured wild berries, used for making juice, jam and wine. Not easy to grow in a garden unless you have a piece of natural woodland.
