When looked at from a distance, this is a striking and beautiful tree.

I really love this ficus, its leaves are deep and robust, with gorgeous dark colours. It compliments cut flower arrangements perfectly.

This bush seems to be very easily grown from seed. They should be nicked or roughed up and shouldbe sanded lightly for best result.Sanded seeds absord water better. They are recognizable even young because of the bipinnate leaves.

Similar to Porcupine and Zebra grass with the exception that this variety is considered dwarf growing to a height of 4 feet. Extemely varigated Green and Gold, stunning plant.

Somehow I ended up with this plant growing by my water feature Hebe. Maybe the birds planted it for me but I really enjoy it. Mine is over 7 feet tall and has a wonderful fragrance. It reseeds every year in the same spot. I have tried starting plants from seeds but not had any luck.

One very interesting plant; due to the lack of butterflies or bees or other pollinating insects that other plants more commonly rely on for propagation in their environment, the stapelia flowers give of a most horrid and nauseating stench, similar to that of decaying meat. Their flowers are stunning however, and belie their deathlike aroma.

I just adore the smell and taste. Nothing like a fresh, washed bulb to chew on. It's sweet and slightly licorice/aniseed flavour is moreish and addictive.

I have a similar salvia in my yard and the hummingbirds flock to it all summer long. Hardy, drought-tolerant, and easy to grow. Love this plant

This is one of my favorite plants not only for the kitchen but for an ornamental. I have 11 of them and some of them have wintered over 5 years already and still look as good as they did the second year. My common sages give up after about 3 years unless I fuss over them by stooling/coppicing them and then take a while to come back. These Bergarttens only get the pruning that is done for culinary use and spring back beautifully every year. I cut them back by about a third around Mid/Late NOV in Zone 5a USA and use the fresh and dried for the holidays. I've also noticed that they are 'almost' evergreen. They last through several hard freezes. The only issue I've had with them is that NONE of them have ever bloomed for me but the size and quality of the leaves makes it worthwhile.

Anise-flavored young shoots, leaves, and seeds provide sweetness when cooked with fruit.
