New pileated juvenile male.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Wed Jul 14, 2010 4:20 am

For a couple of years now a pileated woodpecker female has been calling for a treat, more or less each day. Last year it brought a young female and was feeding it on the sundeck. This year she brought a juvenile male. We have had the males in the garden but this one was the first to come onto the sundeck. He knocked hell out of the branch he was on. Then we had the Anna's hummingbird in the front garden where I was looking for any insects that wanted their picture taken.

A trip to the mountains.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Thu Jul 08, 2010 10:14 pm

Just a quick trip up Island to Mt. Washington. Its about 145 miles north of us. It was a little early but as I had a visitor staying we had no option but to go now. There was still lots of snow and water running everywhere, so it was 2 or 3 weeks to early for the flowers. I'll go back then. We did see the Gray Jay and juveniles, some nice scenery and there were a few flowers about.

A Marsh Wren

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Wed May 05, 2010 12:37 am

While taking photos of some shrubs etc. I came across this marsh wren singing. It was rather hard to get a decent shot because of all the reeds and it was a little windy too.
