My world with Nature.

Photographs, and a few words about the birds that visit the garden and those that I manage to see.

White crowned sparrow today.

Category: My wildlife images | Posted: Fri Oct 10, 2014 4:13 pm

It is very misty today. In case it stays, I have this White crowned sparrow that I took yesterday down at the lagoon.

Another bird from the lagoon.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Thu Oct 09, 2014 6:01 pm

Not many of these gulls are seen down at the lagoon. They leave for other areas in the fall. Managed to see this juvenile Heermanns gull for the first one this year.

Nuthatch todays bird.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Wed Oct 08, 2014 8:01 pm

I'm still finding a bird to photograph each day, I do have a lot coming to the different feeders etc. I don't like to include the feeder though. Just like to take them in a more natural setting.

A good one today.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Tue Oct 07, 2014 11:00 pm

I have not managed to take any photos of waxwings, only one that hit the window a couple of years ago. Today I was standing on the sundeck waiting for a nuthatch when this waxwing turned up and started eating the berries on the honeysuckle.Talk about lucky.

American Robin

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Mon Oct 06, 2014 6:08 pm

The robins are clearing out the mountain ash berries. I do have 4 bags full though in the freezer for feeding them when the real winter arrives. Its fun taking a photo each day and posting it straight away. Great not having to wait till you finished a roll of film.

A rare visitor today.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Fri Oct 03, 2014 6:19 pm

It is not a rare bird to the area but it is a marsh type of bird. They nest in among the bull rushes etc. Only comes for 2 or 3 visits but usually in Dec/Jan time. I was going to post a hummingbird till this one came to the deck.

Have to post two today.

Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Thu Oct 02, 2014 10:46 pm

This varied thrush arrived today. We don't usually see them on the deck till Dec, Jan. As I post the birds the day I take the picture, it had to be another one today.
