Category: My Garden Birds | Posted: Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:29 am Many people get confused with the Hairy and Downy woodpeckers. If you don't see them together or up close, it is hard to know which is which. Today I'm posting the Hairy, and an extra shot so that you will see just how much different they are. The second shot, and no fixing in photo shop etc, shows the two on a log, I have them all trained to do this. Look at the log and compare the size of the birds.

You all know I appreciate your comments, and with you all being so good, I've put in another picture for you. A couple of Black Oystercatchers. They nest close by on an island and then hang about the lagoon the rest of the year. When they meet each other they bow up and down and make quite a din.
